Our founders, Kym and Tiffany Wimberly, have built a legacy in education that prioritizes the individual needs of each student. This philosophy has been seamlessly carried over to ACT Qualified Driving Academy.
Here, we believe in a personalized, student-centered approach to learning, empowering our students to become responsible drivers who understand the importance of safety and courtesy on the road.
In the realm of safe driving practices, an often overlooked but crucial rule is the ‘Wipers on, Lights on’ law. ACT Qualified Driving Academy is committed to ensuring that our students and readers not only understand this important traffic regulation but also appreciate its significance in promoting safer roads.
As drivers, we face a multitude of unpredictable conditions on the road every day, and inclement weather certainly ranks high on that list. Rain, sleet, fog, and snow can impair visibility and make it challenging for drivers to see the road ahead and also be seen by others. It is under these conditions that the ‘Wipers on, Lights on’ law comes into play.
So, what does this law entail? Simply put, the ‘Wipers on, Lights on’ law mandates that whenever your vehicle’s wipers are in use due to weather conditions, your headlights must also be on. This law isn’t merely a suggestion—it is a requirement in many jurisdictions, including ours.
The essence of the ‘Wipers on, Lights on’ law lies in its aim to boost visibility and safety. When rain, snow, or fog creates conditions that necessitate the use of wipers, it means visibility is compromised. Having your vehicle’s headlights on increases your car’s visibility to other drivers, reducing the likelihood of accidents. This simple act can make a significant difference in road safety.
While this might seem obvious to some, we find that many drivers often neglect to turn on their lights when their wipers are on, primarily during daylight hours. Remember, this law isn’t about helping you see the road—it’s about helping other drivers see you.
At ACT Qualified Driving Academy, we believe in the power of proactive safety measures. Understanding the ‘Wipers on, Lights on’ law is just one step in that direction. Our driving instruction program is designed to instill the best driving practices in our students, ensuring they’re not just QUALIFIED but also responsible and safety-conscious drivers.
Never underestimate the impact of such small actions on overall road safety. As drivers, we all share the responsibility of maintaining safe roads. So remember, ‘Wipers on, Lights on.’ It’s not just the law—it’s a simple way to keep you, your passengers, and your fellow drivers safe.

I had a great experience with ACT Qualified Driving Academy. I had my permit but not much experience on the road and was a very nervous driver. After signing up for their private driving hours, I became much more confident in my driving abilities and easily passed my road skills test.
